Super Tuesday. Who says?
It amuses me how passionate people get on voting day. Honestly, I was going to go vote in the primary this morning. But I woke up at 4 a.m. and couldn't fall back asleep, so I took a Benadryl to knock myself out and couldn't drag myself out of bed to go to the polling place before class two hours later. And once I'm in class, I don't have time the rest of my day, because I go straight from class to the northwestern suburbs (where I am NOT registered to vote) for my internship and stay there until 9 p.m. at night, after the polls close.
To tell the truth, a good part of me is relieved. I know that most of my friends are on the Obama bandwagon, but I just don't buy it. I don't think the guy will have one iota of a clue of what to do on the first day of his tenure if he's elected. He hasn't done anything as a state senator except run for president. Thank you, Senator. So glad my tax dollars are paying for your campaign trail. Why don't you try running our state before you try running the country? That IS what we're paying you for.
Hillary's no better. Cronyism, yech. Plus, universal health care (while admirable and awesome as an idea that I completely support) is a pipe dream. She obviously hasn't met the health insurance lobby anytime recently. And another 4 years of Bill yakking to the media, no thank you...
The Republicans, don't get me started. They all want to overturn Roe v. Wade. Which I was opposed to when I was 14. And then I figured out that laws shouldn't dictate morals, and that NOT having legalized abortion was far more dangerous than having it.
And Ron Paul? That man has some fierce advertising cred, but no realistic policies to speak of.
I'm not into voting for "the lesser of the evils." If I was, maybe I would've tried harder to get out of bed to vote. Honestly, I (the girl who used to want to be a politician, and who spent a week in Washington D.C. as a "future policy maker" intern in high school) am resigned to hating all of politics, and truly not caring who makes it in. Thank God for checks and balances. And I'm glad that God has all the power in the end. He wins. Yay! Thanks to the rest of you for voting. I'm sure you did a great job deciding for the rest of us.
Carver for President!! (for you WIRE fans!)

that's okay, trace. i say way to not cave and jump on the bandwagon just because your friends are on it!
Obama didn't even decide to run until after his second term as President. I honestly do not think he will just sit in the Oval Office next January and twiddle his thumbs. I think he will get to work. Everybody want to get his on experience but what about Lincoln. He served one term in the house and ran for senate and lost twice. He then went on to untie a broken country. A long resume does not make a leader, conviction, compassion, commitment, integrity, and honesty make a leader. Senator Obama has that in spades. He has not taken a single dollar of lobbyist money. That buys a lot of credibility in my book
this is the first time i've ever voted in the primaries and i was so excited to do it! WOW!
I'm kinda with jake on this one, even though i know i'll probably be disappointed in the end ( i'm so not an optimist when it comes to politics).
