Studio 60 revisited
This morning, tooling around the Internet, I found a response to Studio 60 from a Christian. Interesting? Yes. Rage-inducing? Definitely.
Check out this link and read for yourself before venturing on to my response:

Unfortunately, the comment post thing isn't working, I ran into many error messages, with my response still unposted. So here is my response (I'll try again to post on there, believe me)...
"As a Christian, I have had the complete opposite reaction to Studio 60 than this review posits. I am not at all offended by the "Crazy Christians" sketch or by the consistent bashes on Christianity on Studio 60. We, as Christians, deserve it. We have decided to take Jesus and turn him political. We have decided to take our faith and use it to hate others in the name of Christ. Christ himself must be so ashamed of what we have made of him. And, really, how dare we get offended that they call Christians "crazy"? Jesus knew this would happen and warned us. He said in John 15:20-21:
"20Remember the words I spoke to you: 'No servant is greater than his master.'If they persecuted me, they will persecute you also. If they obeyed my teaching, they will obey yours also. 21They will treat you this way because of my name, for they do not know the One who sent me."
So if the Christian right is Biblically right, then they should not be ashamed to be mocked for their beliefs, or put upon, because it is far less of a persecution than that of Jesus Christ.
And if the Christian right is stepping outside of the call of Christ for our witness, then they deserve to be confronted, challenged, and have that brought to light.
I, personally, think it's the second one. Christians (yes, I'm including myself here) destroy the message of Christ every day. We should be ashamed of ourselves, truly, instead of getting defensive about others views of some of our hypocritical ways. We should take the challenge to find ways to become more like Christ. We should be willing to watch a show and dialogue with those who create it and write it and act in it about the views presented of Christians. And we should not shy away from looking in the mirror at our own shortcomings.
I love Studio 60, and I am a Christian. Many of my Christian friends and family agree with me. It would be such a shame for a show that actually has a positive, honest Christian character (the episode where Harriet talks about the beauty of her mother's faith in Jesus, and how she hopes to mature in her faith to that point as well, resonated deeply in my soul) to be cancelled, because the Christian community is so sensitive that they cannot even recognize great TV amidst their own defensiveness. You think "American Idol" "The Rich List" "Deal or No Deal" or "Dancing with the Stars" is better television because it doesn't offend your Christian sensibilities? It should. It's sub-par TV. Christians, more than anyone else, should expect excellence in all things (even television), knowing that God created them, and all things can be redeemed for God's original purpose. With support from Christians who turn away from excellence to avoid being challenged, TV will continue its descent into the mind-numbing, life-sucking cesspool that it is currently wading in. And the small minority of us who think that television can be a vehicle of truth, honesty, and redemption will have you to thank."
Pretty much that sums it up for me. One other thing. There is a counter argument already out there (many, in fact, but here's one I liked) from a Christian writer. Check it out here, AND scroll down the comments to comment #18 and comment #20. Then come back to me.

Thank you, intelligent human beings. For being able to say great things. I love great dialogue. And I have to say, I think mining through some of these viewpoints and issues and finding my own voice is somehow bringing praise to God. God wants our faith to be deep and real, not superficial. I thank God for his continuous work to unearth the excellence he created in me.
