The one my East Coast cousins will hate me for...
Far more interesting to me than politics is the fact that the Patriots finally got beat down on Sunday. Woop-woop!!
I have been more distraught than words can say about this season of New England Patriots football. I have documented many times my utter lack of respect for them, and their coach. I couldn't wait to see them lose. And yet, time and time again, I saw them beat the opposing team into submission and then walk gleefully over the remains.
Until Sunday. Yay Sunday. I have never liked the New York Giants, and I am not a fan of Eli Manning. However, I could have kissed him when he made that touchdown to Plaxico Burress with 35 seconds left in the game. And it warmed my heart to see Tom Brady sacked 5 times and knocked down every third play or so by the rabid New York defense. I was hoping for an injury to the perfect Stetson man. Scott says I'm horrible, he's probably right.
So take that, Patriots. As the headlines said so eloquently, you're not the best team of all time, and you weren't even the best team on that night. You got beat. And when it comes out that Bill Belichick cheated all of these years (um, taping pre-Superbowl warmups for the Rams superbowl...yeah, that's totally against the rules), you'll have to pay the price. Worse, you'll have to live with the fact that you went 18-1. Shouldn't have believed your own hype. Tom Brady before the game about a comment a Giants player had made: "He said we'll only get 17 points? (chuckle, chuckle)"
Actually, it was only 14.
Who's laughing now?
