Only in the city, part 383.

I was waiting for Scott after his show the other night, sitting in my car on Milwaukee Ave. A large man in a kilt and his group walked out of the sushi restaurant next to me. That made me smile, that a man in a kilt went for sushi. Then he climbed into his JEEP (!) and got his kilt caught in the door. I giggled out loud. So many contradictions in one short walk to a car.

I love living in the city.

Last night, we went to a friends' barbeque for the 4th of July. After the barbeque-ing festivities and after the band's performance (our friend is in a band and recruited Scott and his french horn to play in their gig at the party), we headed up to the rooftop of their 3-flat. And that's when I stepped into one of the most surreal moments of my life. Standing on a rooftop in the middle of the city on a gorgeous cool night, and turning slowly in a circle, I was surrounded by fireworks. Large displays going off in every direction on the horizon, in almost a complete circle around the building. Some closer, some farther away, but it was the strangest feeling to think that I was in the middle of it all. It felt like a long shot in a movie as I turned slowly around. It was truly breathtaking.

Happy Independence Day weekend to all!

I starred this blog on my reader. And I usually only star the ones with photos I want to copy. But I know that I am going to want to read your description of Chicago over and over. Thanks for making me both thrilled and sad at the same time (which is not your fault). Love ya! See you soon!!!!
