Beautiful Day
Here's a brief summary of my weekend (not that you really care, but hey, what are blogs for?):
Friday night: Went and bought new running shoes (and a cute outfit, of course!) from Fleet Feet Sports in Lincoln Square. Seriously, great place. They fit shoes to my feet and my style of running, which has made running much, much easier on my body. Plus, I struck up a great conversation with an employee there about how much we love Chicago. I think I'm on a Chicago-love kick. I just can't get enough of it in the summer... Anyway, they were great, and I highly recommend them to anyone looking to get new running shoes or apparel. Then I went grocery shopping. Grocery shopping after physical activity is always a good idea, because you tend to buy much healthier stuff than you would otherwise. This makes me happy (although I won't lie, I'm totally craving a Snickers bar right now)!
Saturday: Went running (1.5 miles, nothing too stressful) with Scott along the lake. Gorgeous weather (mid-70's and sunny) led to a great run. I stopped every so often to walk (aka "breathe"), but overall, had a good time. Painted Scott's room, which led to a mini-fight between us. My fault entirely. I had forgotten how much I hated painting until we were into it. Fight resolved, I got over my crankiness, Scott went to his show, and I went home, planning on doing my homework, and, of course, for those of you who know my fondness of naps, fell asleep for three hours.
Seriously crazy. Watched a Discovery program on driver ants with David and Scott, shocked by how crazy the animal kingdom can be. And gross. But God certainly knew what He was doing, everything works like clockwork, very intricate and detailed. I'd rather those ants not be by me, however, they were very disturbing to watch as they overwhelmed and consumed various insects/larger animals in the forest.
Sunday: Church, then finished painting, then went to Scott's show (loved it the second time, truly the sign of a great play), then out to dinner with friends of ours from church.
Monday: RAN AT 5:30 THIS MORNING. This is incomprehensible to me, that this actually occurred. Except for the fact that my calves are currently screaming in protest, reminding me that it actually did happen. Actually, aside from my legs, it was a great run. The sun was up over the lake, there were friendly people saying "good morning" when we passed, and the lake was so calm and beautiful. It was so quiet, and so perfect, that it would have taken my breath away if I hadn't already been having breathing difficulty due to the strenuous exercise. :) Plus, I was able to go longer without walking this time, so I'm making small progress. YAY!
And so now it is Monday morning, and it is supposed to be gorgeous weather here, hope it's gorgeous whereever you are! Welcome to a new week, friends. I hope that it is a great one for all of us!

Yo, Tracy!! How you been?!? Glad to hear you're running! I have to say I'm on a Love-Chicago kick too! (Can't believe I just said that!!) But seriously, how could you not when it's as beautiful as it's been!!? Anyway, we should run together sometime. I've slowly made some progress. :-) Going a little farther each day.
Hey, we need to get together sometime too! We better not let another summer go by without seeing each other. :-) Love ya! Have a great week!
