First Day of Summer
So, I know, I've been slacking on the whole blogging thing. Hope you all had a lovely Father's Day weekend, I spent my Father's Day driving to and spending time in Ohio with Scott's family, for Scott's grandpa's 80th birthday party. I had a great time meeting that side of the family, and enjoyed the road trip aspect of the trip. Always fun to be on the open highway, even if the tolls do add up! Scott and I took a detour through Indiana Amish country on the way back, and had a nice, relaxing lunch in the wonderful 80 degree and sunny weather on Monday. We also got some good cheese at the local cheese factory, which always makes us happy. We're big fans of cheese (still, we draw the line at wearing fake cheese on our heads a la Wisconsinites). We went for some unusual cheeses...I got butter cheese, Scott got yogurt cheese and bacon cheese. :) Very tasty! If you're ever driving through northern IN, let me know, I'll steer you toward a good time... :) (ah, yes. For a good time, call me. :) I always wanted that to be said about me, this is probably the tamest that reference gets!!)
Today is the first day of summer. I love the changing of seasons. Who knows what this summer holds? So many possibilities. I love summer in the city, I'm looking forward to spending time outside, getting some sun, good food, exercise. I love the festivals and the fact that so many people are outside on the paths by the lake. It is ironic, therefore, that the first day of summer is rainy here in Chicago. But it is a good day to relax, I think, and I have that option tonight, so I will. When I look forward to summer, I see it flying by so fast, and I hope that I don't spend my summer looking forward to the fall and cursing at Cubs fans blocking my drive home on Lake Shore Drive. I want to open my windows, turn up my radio, and relax, knowing that my next two years of school will be busy and overwhelming. And this is my time off. Next summer, I will be working and doing an internship. This summer, I will be focusing on how to be the person God created me to be. I want to grow in my relationship with Christ in a mighty and powerful way. I want to spend time laughing with my friends outside. I want to play with my nephew in the water. I want to eat Dairy Queen M&M Blizzards until I can't eat any more. And I want to breathe in the joy of waking up every morning with a purpose, even if that purpose is just being, relaxing, loving and being loved. What is the purpose for today? It's time to go find out...

Seeing how K & I also love the cheese, we need to have a cheese party. With maybe some wine as well. Yeah, definitely wine and cheese. We could pretend to be uppity.
I love uppity. :)
But only if I can bring my M&M Blizzard...
Was County Line Cheese Factory where you went? I'm from Northern Indiana orinally and, when I was a kid, we would make a day of it......We'd go to Amish Acres (and eat ice cream;) and then head to County Line Cheese; and then on to The Seckler Pickle Factory.......I would often come home quite sick from all of the food...but happy!!
