Allergy meds

This is the problem with allergies: Allergy meds. It sucks that I am allergic to cats, for any number of reasons that I have already discussed. However, in trying to ward off the inevitable rush of histamines that inundates me upon encountering a cat's domain, I take these little tiny pills designed by the devil. Don't get me wrong, I am immensely thankful for their ability to stop me from crying, sneezing, and ultimately wheezing my way into an asthma attack of some sort, but I am bearing a grugdge against my allergy meds.

This is because yesterday, in grand, heroic fashion, the Chicago Bears trounced the Green Bay Packers, 26-0. 26-0 is fabulous. FABULOUS! Especially against the Packers, and especially because it was the first shut-out of Brett Favre ever. Hoorah! This should have made me ecstatic, because I am a huge Bears fan and am very excited for my team. However, my allergy medicine has the unfortunate side-effect of making me semi-comatose (they call it "drowsy", I find this description grossly underestimates the effect), and I found myself watching the game on some sort of weird auto-pilot. "Yay!" I would cheer quietly from the couch while everyone around me was screaming and jumping up and down. "Bear Down", I would sing along almost to myself as my friends sang at the top of their lungs. Scott was so excited about the game that he impetuously kissed me on the cheek at one point. I just smiled back serenely, zoned out and passive.

I am unhappy that my football fandom is being chemically altered. I am hoping for some sort of resolution to this problem soon. I cannot be a zombie for an entire football season. Perhaps the solution is to watch the game in a cat-free environment, but that makes me sad because I love my friends who host the Bears weekly extravaganza, and they, in turn, love cats. I am trying to avoid that option at all costs. But I want to be a real fan again. And stay awake next time.
