Springing forward
I know, I know. It's been 12 days since I last posted. I am a horrible person. In answer to the Blogger log-in issue, Blogger sent me a fairly polite email telling me to adjust the setting for my cookies. I must digress here and say that whoever determined that pop-up graphics should be called cookies should be put in solitary confinement for a minimum of three weeks. First of all, it just sounds stupid. And secondly, it makes me crave a warm and gooey chocolate chip cookie when I'm trying to focus on my computer, and that proves to be an intimidating distraction. Back to the original topic, I adjusted my cookies and the stupid thing still won't load. So I'm logging in through the "old Blogger", and while it gently reprimands me that I am now a "new Blogger" user, it lets me in. So there.
Here's what's new: Rehearsal is going well. I am finding my way as Sarah, and it's a fun journey. I look forward to seeing my "family" at rehearsal every Monday and Saturday, and I think that they are all fabulous people. And I like them. I cooked for them on Saturday, I made Italian Sausage with marinara, green peppers and onions in a crockpot. I know, it's so easy it's sad, but I was still proud of my Rachael Ray impression. Evoo, anyone?
This weekend, Scott and I went out to dinner twice. This, for me, means that it was a good weekend. I am one of those people who would give the whole of my paycheck away if it meant that I got to eat out every night in various fabulous restaurants. Last night, we used a gift certificate I had and went to eat at Tokyo 21, a sushi restaurant on Weed St. in Chicago. For those of you that know me, you know that I am a sushi freak, and I would gladly eat it every day if I could. I would probably die of mercury poisoning, but I would die happy. Anyway, Tokyo 21 was good, but nothing spectacular. And quite expensive. Thank goodness for gift certificates. I have an issue with eating rolls that are approximately the size of my fist. It's a logistics issue, I am unsure how to shove everything in my mouth and not spit it back out at my dining companion. I am currently working with someone at my internship who grew up in Japan, I'm going to ask her about the polite procedure for eating those rolls. I prefer the smaller rolls that I can just pop into my mouth and enjoy. For the record, my favorite sushi place is still Rise on Southport (even their edamame is superior to everyone else's!), then Agami in Uptown (more expensive, but so tasty!), then Tank in Lincoln Square, which has pretty good sushi that you can get for 1/2 price on Sat. and Sun. during the day...but has the worst service ever. Oh, I like Matsuya, too, in Wrigleyville. That's my best friend's favorite, and it's more traditional, but good. No other sushi places have really been memorable, in my opinion.
Enough about sushi. It was a good weekend. But with the time change and the dark morning this morning, I am having a tough time with the fact that it is Monday. But it is Monday, and spring is coming (60 degrees today, woo-HOO!!). I cannot imagine living in a place where there was no winter, because my joy at the signs of spring would be far less emotional. But emotional it is, and I am so glad to hear the birds chirping as I walk through the streets, and the little buds of flowers popping up here and there. Everything in Chicago comes alive in the summer, and the spring is an awakening to that point. Yippee!! Spring is coming!!! Happy Monday!
