Finally, a chick flick!
I am halfway through my spring break, and I have to tell you, life is so much better without classes. :) Can't wait til 5 weeks from now when that's a permanent situation in my life.
This past weekend, I went with my friend Katherine to see the movie "Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day." If you read my blog with any regularity, and you know anything about the movie, you know why. If not, let me introduce you to my adoration of Amy Adams. She's fabulous. The movie was fun and lighthearted. Amy plays a heartbreaker ingenue who needs a "social secretary" to keep all of her men straight. In comes Frances McDormand, who has been the anti-Mary Poppins and failed miserably as a proper governess to the young 'uns, and ta da, you've got yourself a movie. It wasn't the best movie I've ever seen. It didn't make my top 10. But, like one of those little water-bottle fans, it was just the right touch to balance the seriousness of reality with a touch of fanciful girliness. It was so fun to see a girlie movie, and to leave with a smile on my face. It was interesting to see the costumes and cars for a movie set in London at the beginning of World War II. And Katherine and I agreed that Amy Adams was perfect for the role, and we couldn't imagine anyone else in the role. And Frances McDormand was also perfect, of course. It was a fun movie.
And just this once since I started dating Scott, I got to leave a movie without sitting through the end credits. I didn't have to avoid making eye contact with the staff trying to clean the theater around me. I got to leave, like a normal person, when the credits started rolling. Hallelujah for the small blessings and an extra 5 minutes of my life.
