Overheard
"So I was watching this show on TV yesterday about these water snakes and how they can regurgitate what they eat."
"Gross. That's disgusting."
"Yeah. Then I changed the channel and they were doing experiments on how to chill a 6-pack of beer in the fastest amount of time."
"Well, that's useful information."
"Very useful. Turns out you can turn them ice cold if you spray a fire extinguisher on them for 3 minutes. Also, if you're trying to use ice water, that's not good enough. If you add salt to your ice water, it gets colder faster."
"You took notes."
"Yeah. It's good stuff."
I actually knew that one about the salt making ice water get colder faster and maintaining lower temperatures than otherwise possible with ice water (it's a basic high school science experiment, very useful for chilling wine as an adult. Also, and significantly more morbidly, why do YOU think those people on the Titanic died from hypothermia so quickly??). I will say that I did not know about the water snakes or the fire extinguisher.
I leave you with this question: Would you drink beer from a can covered in toxic fire extinguisher foam?
