Match Point
Ok, so I lied yesterday. Does that make me a liar? I didn't mean to lie. I said that I was planning on watching "Devil's Playground" and "Just Like Heaven". And I really wasn't lying, because I planned on watching those. Until I finished running errands (and Jen, before you get on me for missing Movies in the Park for this, believe you me, I would much rather be hanging with you than killing my quad muscles at the gym and getting groceries, but there are only a limited number of evenings that I can get stuff done, especially when I'm out of town on the weekends, and sacrifices must be made!), got to Blockbuster to return "Kiss, Kiss, Bang, Bang" and as I wandered around with my free movie coupon for any movie in the store, I stumbled upon "Match Point", the Woody Allen movie about infidelity that recently found its way to DVD. I had to pick Scott up from work in Skokie, but after that, we came back to my apartment (hooray for air conditioning!) and settled in to watch the movie. I had picked up movie candy at Walgreens...yay!! Unfortunately, Scott, while he insists that he is not a picky eater, absolutely refused to touch any of my four movie candy options--Raisinets, Milk Duds, Charleston Chews, or Junior Mints, on the grounds that he hates raisins covered in chocolate, and caramel, marshmallow, and mint, and raised a big stink that I didn't get him his Reese's Pieces. Picky? Not at all... Anyway, it was actually fortunate for me, because it was left to me to consume the chocolate madness. :)
So we watched Match Point and it was a great movie. Great in that it shows the "tangled web" that infidelity causes, and how screwed up one can become when we start making excuses for our actions. And what a selfish, arrogant, obsessive man can do to others and himself. Scarlett Johannsen was adorable. Cute as a button. I want to hate her. Honestly, I do. Scott has this thing for her (as most guys I know do, HELLO, she's flipping GORGEOUS!), and so I want to be like, "You evil blonde goddess, you suck as an actress and I would hate you in real life." In reality, she seems like fun, and I would probably like her in real life. She's not only drop-dead gorgeous, she's a talented actress (in some scenes more than others, Scott and I agreed on this, though this was the first movie I've ever seen of hers...no, I didn't see "Lost in Translation", I'll get to it, I promise) and very likable. Darn it. I just can't hate her. But if I were Scott, I would still pick me over her. Just because I'm so fabulous, if not as curvy, blonde-bombshell-y. Really, you know me, I'm fabulous, aren't I??? You'd pick me too, right?? RIGHT? :)
So tonight, hopefully, the movies I planned on last night. Also, I heard a commercial on the radio saying that it is .59 or .69 Hamburger/Cheeseburger day at McDonald's. So tonight, load me up on McD's burgers and fries, and set me in front of a TV with my movies of the evening. This movie marathon business is so fun...
