Monday nights

Mondays are my least favorite day of the week. Monday nights, however, will be my favorite for this entire TV season. Last night, I watched two of the best shows on television, and I was ELATED to find such good TV on free, non-cable television. And I was even more excited that they were both on NBC, the only channel I get right now with any clarity.

I actually saw the first show, "Heroes", by accident. I had finished putting away my laundry (my only scheduled task for the evening), sat down on the couch to dunk my Double Stuff Oreos in milk, and turned on the TV. Lo, and behold, "Deal or No Deal" was just wrapping up, and then, with limited commmercial interruption, NBC premiered Heroes. Scott has talked recently about the fact that our world is looking for superheroes, in the recent boom of superhero movies, and the superhero plays that he is in, and now with this show. I had really no interest in seeing this show, but when it started, I was instantly drawn in. It was creepier and far more surprising than I expected (especially Ali Larter's character, for those of you who watched or are familiar with her...her character thing kind of freaked me out...in a deliciously creepy, goosebumps kind of way), but it was so impressive, the range of the characters and their storylines. It will be told as kind of a true comic book story, and it is fascinating. Check it out if you get the chance. The good news is that NBC has put the entire episode, or a two minute recap, whichever you prefer, on its website for anyone to download. So, even if you missed it, you can see what you missed. This is ingenious, and may be incredibly helpful if I ever miss an episode.

Next up was Studio 60. I have talked on this blog before about that show, so I won't go into it again. But it is such a wonderful show. The characters are so well developed, and they tackle some interesting issues. It's a heck of a lot of fun, truly. These episodes are also online on NBC.com, so you can also check out what you missed there.

As for me, I am not much of a TV watcher (helped by my current cable situation). But I was stuck in the same place for two full hours last night, while I watched my new favorite shows. I was on a weird high for an hour or so afterwords, so excited that this quality could be found on television (I suppose this is how Lost and Sopranos fans feel, I have not gotten attached to either of those shows).

Thanks to NBC, Monday night=my new favorite night.

yeah, finally watched the pilot of Studio 60 over the weekend and wow, it is actually worth the hype. this might be the one new show I allow myself this season, although I may have to at least check out the pilot of Heroes based on that description.

Yay! I'm so glad that you liked it! I've been talking up Studio 60 to everyone I know, and I never do that about TV shows. I'm glad you thought it was worth the hype!
